Amaravati, October 17: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to conduct a comprehensive study on the state’s mineral wealth and develop a value-addition plan to increase revenue. During a review meeting on the Mines Department and Free Sand Policy, Naidu emphasized that value addition is key to maximizing state income, similar to models adopted by states like Odisha, which earns over ₹50,000 crore annually from minerals. Andhra Pradesh, he said, could generate an additional ₹20,000–₹30,000 crore through a clear vision plan. The Mines Department informed that it has targeted ₹3,320 crore revenue for FY 2025–26, marking a 34% rise from the previous year. Major minerals like manganese contribute over 72% of this income. The Chief Minister instructed that pending 6,500 mining applications be cleared promptly and called for satellite and drone-based monitoring of mining operations to track permits, extractions, and compliance in real-time. Highlighting social equity, Naidu ordered the formulation of a special mining lease policy for the Vaddera community, proposing 15% reservation in mining allocations for Vadderas and related societies. He directed officials to offer 50% concession on seigniorage and premium fees, enabling the community to grow as MSMEs linked to the mining sector. Naidu stressed that this initiative should ensure economic empowerment of backward classes through sustainable resource use. On the free sand policy, the Chief Minister reaffirmed that its benefits must reach the common people directly. He instructed strict enforcement to prevent misuse and ensure transparent sand supply. Officials reported that 66.5 lakh metric tonnes of sand had been stockpiled, with 43 lakh metric tonnes currently available across stock points. Naidu ordered regular inspections, minimal transportation costs, and tighter CCTV surveillance at interstate routes to ensure accountability.

Kakinada: Andhra Pradesh BJP Chief P.V.N. Madhav emphasized that the Godavari districts have long been strongholds of the BJP, with the party securing nearly 27% of votes and achieving remarkable victories in the region’s past elections. He addressed a felicitation event in Kakinada held in honor of BJP State General Secretary Saligrama Lakshmi Prasanna. Madhav stated that positions in BJP are responsibilities, not decorations, and that the role of State General Secretary requires active travel and deep involvement in organizational activities. He praised Lakshmi Prasanna’s dedication and noted that her appointment recognizes her long-standing service to the party. The event witnessed participation from key BJP figures such as MP Daggubati Purandeswari, MLA Dr. Parthasarathy, former MLA Kapu Ramachandra Reddy, Vetikuri Surya Narayana Raju, Nirmala Kishore, and BJP Kakinada District President Bikkina Visweswara Rao.

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu emphasized that education is a top priority for the “Praja Government,” ensuring every student remains in school. During a video conference with district collectors at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat—alongside Social Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar—he reviewed the progress of the Best Available School Scheme under the SC and ST Welfare Department. The Deputy CM instructed collectors, DEOs, and welfare officials to take the issue seriously and ensure that every student selected under the scheme continues their education without interruption. He stated that any disputes or issues between school managements and district administrations should be resolved officially—students should not be removed from schools for administrative reasons. Bhatti directed that schools’ pending dues under the scheme be submitted immediately, assuring that part of the funds would be released soon. Highlighting recent reports that some schools temporarily closed due to funding delays, Bhatti questioned how reputed institutions could depend solely on the Best Available Scheme funds. He instructed DEOs to personally visit all scheme-affiliated schools, inspect conditions, verify compliance with government regulations, and submit detailed reports. Additionally, he ordered data collection on all students who studied in these schools over the past seven years to track their higher education or career progress. Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar urged collectors and officials to directly interact with school managements and monitor the proper implementation of the scheme. Education Secretary Yogita Rana, Social Welfare Secretary Budha Prakash, and Commissioner Kshitij also attended the meeting.
